Wheelchair Measurement Guide

Wheelchair Measurement

We ask for measurements of your wheelchair so that we can ensure the correct fitment inside a wheelchair adapted vehicle. Each conversion company has a slightly different way of converting a vehicle into one with wheelchair access, so they are NOT all the same.

If you need any help or advice on measuring your wheelchair or mobility scooter, you can get in touch below.

The wheelchair width is important (so you measure across the widest point). The height of the person sitting in their wheelchair (so from the floor to the top of their head) is a huge factor in what adapted vehicles can be suitable. Although a lowered floor means there is a greater entrance height, there are still some vehicles that are surprisingly small in entrance height terms. If, of course, you are not physically able to do this, perhaps ask a friend or relative to help you.

For a mobility scooter, the length is very important, so again measure this and the width as well. If you are not physically able to do this you can just provide your scooter make and model and we will find this out for you. Generally, individuals do not stay seated on the mobility scooter whilst the adapted vehicle is in motion, but if you choose to stay seated on your scooter please ensure that you measure the height from the floor to the top of the person's head.
